Kindle broken after 14 months

My Amazon Keyboard Kindle has broken after 14 months.
The screen has frozen on screensaver mode and won't budge. I have been through troubleshooting with Amazon and they've said that it is broken but as it's out of warranty they can't repair it.
They have offered me a replacement for £40 if I return the broken one, which is obviously a big saving on the £111 I paid for mine last year but it will only have a 90 day warranty.
Before I pay the £40 for a replacement is there anything I can do under the sales of good act as I did honestly expect a Kindle to last longer than 14 months?
The Kindle was paid for by debit card at Tesco, I have the receipt still.
TIA

Take it back to Tesco initially. Under the SOGA given the age you may need to prove the fault is inherent but if you get a nice person on Tesco CS they may just swap it for you if a) it appears undamaged and b) it is obviously broken.
Have you tried running the battery down and then recharging from it being dead?Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
Amazon made me fully charge it today so it will take a while to run the battery flat esp when I can't exit screensaver mode. Amazon have given me 10 days to respond if I want the £40 kindle.
I doubt I'll get a nice SA at Tesco to be honest. I've taken things back there before within the 12 month period and that's been hard enough!Lead me not into temptation, I can find the way myself.

As has been said, your contract is with Tesco, not Amazon so Amazons offer is fair and good.
Go back to Tesco and see what happens....whats it going to cost you apart from time and maybe a bit of fuel?Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
See what Tesco's say, even if Tesco's were to refund/replace they would be entitled to deduct an amount for the 14 months useage you've had out of the device already.
Given £110 retail price, probably 3-4 years reasonable life, £40 deduction doesnt sound too bad0 -

I don't know what fixes you have already tried but this might help:My Kindle is frozen/I can’t get rid of something on my screen/my Kindle is behaving strangely. What do I do? The first step when your Kindle misbehaves is always to try a restart:- If the keys are still working: HOME->MENU->Settings->MENU->Restart
- If the keyboard is locked up: slide and hold the power switch for 30 seconds. Then wait for the Kindle to restart.
- If your K3 often reboots and locks up and it’s in a non-lighted cover which uses the hinge system, try removing the Kindle from the cover. Non-lighted covers which use the hinges may cause problems.

I've tried all this things
I'll probably accept the £40 offer from Amazon.

My Kindle startted getting black lines on it a couple of days ago. Mine is just 2months outside of it's warrenty. I found this on the web:-

So I'm a bit reluctant to spend any more money on it because it looks to me like a common fault. I've got the 3G model and I have to say I'm disgusted that they seem to have such a short life span.Alice came to a fork in the road. "Which road do I take?" she asked. "Where do you want to go?" responded the Cheshire cat. "I don't know," Alice answered. "Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."
