Hi All
Hopefully you guys can point me in the right direction, thanks in advance......
My outside walls are painted white and over the years green grime has built up on the walls which don't see alot of sunlight and/or are behind plants. I've thought of buying a pressure washer to see if I can remove this rather than painting all the affected walls.
Before I do, I'd like to know from your experience whether this will do the job as I'd rather not buy the kit and then realise I have to paint after all! If so, which/what spec of washer do you recommend and what detergent?
Thanks for your help.

There's a hosepipe ban you know.
Scrub/Wash it off with bleach in water, then apply stabiliser (if needed) then masonry paint.

i've tried scrubbing but doesn't all come off unfortunately.0 -
You need a mould killer you can also get paint that has mould inhibitor in it. Zinseer do such a product

Bleach can kill mould too you get mould because of lack of light. I get it on a flat roof and I use oxygen bleach to kill it off0 -
thanks Colin. Do you think applying bleach solution and pressure washing will clear it?0

This may or may not work for you but:
We had a problem with green mould on the outside render, to remove it I used an engine degreaser I had in the garage.
Figuring if it doesn't remove the paint from the engine bay of the car it is unlikely to damage the wall.
The mould instantly dissolved and using a stuff brush I was able to remove it completely.
Only MSE if you already have the cleaner though. The only place where success comes before work is the dictionary…

We live in a detatched bungalow that we bought 3 years ago and parts of our wall was similar to the problem that you have, with patches of mould where the masonry paint had worn through to the rendering.
I washed the wall down with my Karcher K 4.6 pressure washer and all the unsightly mould was removed.
Then I painted the wall with a Sandtex Masonry Paint that contained a mould inhibitor, later I will give it a second coat.
Good luck.

thanks for replies.
Raggie, I haven't got engine degreaser, what was name of what you used?
Bob, did you use a detergent with your Karcher, if so what was it?
Thanks0 -
Desdad.. I used the standard Universal Patio & Deck Pressure Washer Cleaner. I got it from Homebase.
Karcher have one similar RM 555 profi but it can be quite expensive.
