Help Needed about Council Tax Increase!!

I had my 2007/8 Council Tax bill though yesterday and it has gone up £8 a month!
I think this is a bit steep, it's a rise of over 10%. How can they justify that.
I am already in the lowest Band, so there is no chance of me ringing up and trying to get my flat rebranded.
Is there anything else I can do to get the cost down? My mum also lives in a Band A property, but it she pays less than me a month.
Any advice on the above would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Does your mum live in a different authority to you?
Or does she have the single person discount?
Or any Council Tax benefit?
All these things could make a difference to two band A properties.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Hi,
If you live by yourself then you are eligible to a 25% discount. You need to get them to send you a form, which is quite simple to fill in.
