how do i get my windows 7 activation email

i had to do a factory restore on my laptop,so had to download windows 7 and all drivers again.

now my comp is asking for my windows 7 activation and i dont know how to do it.

my comp is an advent modena red,and i bought refurbished so never had any discs.

could someone help me as am totally lost as to where i get my activation,thanks

The activation code should be on the COA (Certificate of Authenticity) somewhere on the laptop - perhaps within the section you see when the battery is removed, or on the base of the laptop.

Was there not a recovery option during bootup of the laptop? (e.g. if you press the appropriate key to enter the BIOS - DEL or F12 or whatever - you are often presented with an option to restore the machine to factory settings. This effectively reloads the machine from a recovery partition, including an activated Windows).

It's called installing; downloading is what you do when you copy stuff from the 'net onto your computer.

A factory restore does not require an activation, it takes the computer back to 'shop' condition. What you have done is a reinstall, which was not necessary.
The factory restore is done from the recovery partition on the hard drive, no disks should be required.
Though on an Advent, who knows...

The OP has done a clean install; using a Windows 7 disc.

On the Advent it MIGHT, though unlikely, be possible to reinstall from the Factory Partition (also it does prompt you to create your own recovery discs when you first purchased it) try turning it off then on and tapping F8 and then select repair your computer, if theres no Advent Recovery option turn it off and tap F11 which may start the Recovery option.

That is the processes you should of done instead of using a retail/OEM Windows 7 disc.

Failing that, and failing to activate properly the only other way is to purchase the recovery media you should of created.
