Which is what happened, and I am grateful for.0

No, if a police officer, or indeed pretty much anybody, did decide to attempt to lift her, they would probably hurt her.
It's a fairly common occurrence for anyone trying to help to just make things worse, even simple things like opening a door, without warning, that she already has hold of = dislocated shoulder, but I think anyone who uses a wheelchair is familiar with the problem of "helpful" people who do stuff without asking. It's why she ordered a wheelchair with retractable handles.0 -

You're completely missing the point, they didn't try to lift her, because they recognised that they weren't the right people for the job and called in an ambulance crew!
Part of their training and job is to know what they can and can't handle and when to call in other people, and they did that job well, just acknowledge that after slagging them off!0 -
I already acknowledged that, and stated that it was for the best that they did this.
This argument is getting somewhat into semantics now.0 -

Alright, thanks.
I was just really irritated by your comments yesterday, glad you've thought better of them and I do hope your wife never needs that kind of help again!0 -
If you were a taxi driver, how would you feel about being sent to a job that involved picking the person off the floor?
If you had hypermobile shoulder joints that dislocate really easily how would you feel about being picked up off the floor by a taxi driver?
Well in that case it was absolutely the right call for the Police to transfer this to the Paramedics. You wouldn't and neither would she want a Taxi driver picking her up off the ground, it's highly ulikely that a Police Officer would have know how to do this any better. The chances are as soon as they'd learnt she had this condition, they'd have called the Paramedics anyway, so they actually reduced the time, your wife was left waiting, by sending them immediately.
All round I think it was a good job done.0 -
Indeed, that that the conclusion I also came to toward the end of the last page.
Like I said, it was still an ongoing situation for most of the first page and I wasn't exactly in the best of states. It's a lot easier to criticise others when you're just sitting back and have no emotional involvement in the situation.
At the end of the day, no harm was done, other than my partner having to take an emergency day off and waste a full tank of LPG to go and get this sorted, oh and then do all her days work from home that evening which is fantastic when you also have fibro.0
