Moving house 1 month after Car Insurance Renewal

I know I'm moving house 5 weeks after my car insurance is due. I'm finding it very hard to make a decision on which insurer to pick. Presumably my whole quote will be recalculated when I provide a new address.

I have done a search at both addresses and have chosen a few insurers that come close to the top of the list for both. How can I find what the fees for changing the address will be? Does anyone know any insurers that don't charge?

    No.

When you move your premium will be adjusted (if necessary, could be up or down), but just for the remaining part of the year. Expect to pay an admin fee over this change.

You do need to try and ensure that your new address will be acceptable to your chosen insurer (otherwise you will have to cancel the current policy, with all the expense that will entail, and take out a brand new policy elsewhere.

Axa direct have been fair to me with changing cars, and charged a pro rata premium, with no fees.

Most policies will have a cancellation /admin fee. Check their FAQs or ring them directly to enquire.

You need to calculate whether you are better taking out a policy with a company and cancelling after the 5 weeks to go with another one, or to go with a company and pay the mid term adjustment fee (and any additional charges for the new address).

In any case, save any relevant quotes for the new address as you might be able to use these for the company that you have taken the insurance with (but check their T&Cs) as it might be cheaper to take out a new policy.
