Scrapping a car, what is a good price.

HI all, my escort has finally reached the end of it's life and will not pass it's MOT. the garage have suggested I scrap it saying there is good money in scrap at the moment. However I have no idea what is a good price.
Do I just ring up one of the companies that advertise and will come and get it? What is a good price from these?

or

Do I take it to the scrap yard myself? If so how do I find them and what would I expect to get?

The caretaker where I work has offered to give me the scrap value and then take bits of the car for his own ford and then scrap it for himself. Should I do this?

Thanks for your help.

Sell it to the caretaker. Should be worth about £150 scrap though, from someone like cartakeback.com

The easiest way is to contact someone like cartakeback. I myself used removemycar.co.uk and they will bring a tow truck to your house and tow it away. Should get about £150 for it this way.

You could get a bit more if you take the car to a scrap yard yourself if it's still legal and running. Maybe £160 to £180.

To make the most sell strip the car yourself and sell it, but most people having got the room to do this or the tools. So if you let the caretaker do this he should make a profit on it.

Whats this got to do with anything???

The op doesnt state that the car is uninsured.
If the op scraps the car then they get an 'end of life cert' and if they sell it then ownership and all the responsibilities aligned with it transfer to the new owner.
