Goldfish Personal Loan & PPI

Hi People,

I'm after a bit of help and advice, I look a £5800 personal loan with Goldfish Personal Loans Glasgow in 2003 and I paid off this loan early in 2006.

I don't have any of the original paperwork and I'm unsure if I had PPI or not, from memory I applied for this over the phone or online.

I have a copy of my credit report and this loan shows as Lloyds-TSB who I believe took over/bought out Goldfish (I believe Barclays took over Goldfish credit cards).

I've contacted Lloyds-TSB Loans Dept who've advised they have no record of my loan and they can't locate me unless I give them an account number. They couldn't find me with name and postcode.

I have evidence of this loan from my credit report and I have historic bank statements showing the loan going into my Halifax account in 2003 and being paid off from my debit card in 2006 from my Halifax account (unfortunately these statements don't show any reference number!!).

Is there any other way I can get details of my original loan agreement with Goldfish?

Thanks

If this loan was Lloyds on the credit report, these are the ones you make the claim to for information.
Contact Halifax and ask if they still have the DD information for this loan, if they have this will have the account number.
On the credit report there should be 4 digits of the account number, you could use these.
When you have the account number, send a Sar to Lloyds, ask for all information they hold on you, enclose £10 and give them 40 days to respond.

I've already spoke with Halifax and they don't have historic direct debit information (according to telephone banking!!), I have received bank statements from 2000 - 2006 and I can see the credit received from Goldfish and I can see the date I cleared the loan on my debit card, I can also see the direct debit payments leaving my account between these dates but none of these have a reference number (I'm guessing as they're duplicate bank statements).

My credit report does show the last 4 digits of a reference number linked to the loan but Equifax advise they blank out the first few digits for security and couldn't tell me the full reference number.

I'll look to request a SAR with the information I have.

    Thanks
  • Hi East Shore
Hope you see this but I have similar situation as you have experienced in that I had a loan in 2005 with goldfish and am trying to claim back my ppi. I was told I should contact black horse finance which I guess is the same as lloyds tsb. I sent all the correct forms in and like you they could not trace my loan without a ref number and completely denied ever doing business with goldfish.
I noticed on your last post you were sending them a 'SAR' did you have any joy from this and can you tell me what a SAR is exactly.
    Thanks yours hopefully.

Subject Access Request (SAR) costs £10 and provides all information the Bank has on file for you.
