20+ year old life assurance??

hi all,

in 1989 I took out a life policy with Pearl Assurance (least I think it was a life policy, but it's been so long it might have been a 20yr policy or whatever!) anyway, I stopped paying it years ago and i've moved a couple of times so don't have any paperwork or details.

I'd forgotten all about it till a couple of months ago I got a letter sent to my work (no idea how they got that address) asking me to fill in a form with my current details etc and send it back. I was sceptical so phoned the number on the letter and the guy said it was them looking at all old policies to see if there was anything due on them as part of some scheme. I filled in the form and sent it back, but got me wondering if i'm due anything or not.

Today I phoned Pearl, and the girl eventually found my details (with my old address so sending the form back was pointless), but said she couldn't give me any details about the policy and i'd just have to wait to hear from them. Any way I can find out whats going on? or do I just have to wait and maybe hear from them?

Anyone else have any experience of this?

Cheers

David

Hope it works out for you.

Happened to me, I had taken a policy out on my parents, long time ago, these policies were for only a payout on death. Claiemd mums when she died, Didnt bother with dads and completely forgot about it as no payments were made. In those days the insurance amount was for a payout of £30, Big Money lol.

I got a phone call a couple of years ago from the COOP said they were looking over old policies and I had to fill a form in and send a copy of Dads death certificate. Duly did this and forgot about it, thinking it was only going to be £30, got a cheque from them for £450, this £30 had lain there aquiring interest for about 25/30 years.
Sent some to Help the Heroes in dads memory.

Hope you get a nice surprise.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
