About to be struggling really badly

  • Well that's all the bills in for this last month of the year, and so far I've paid off nearly 7% of my debt. The biggest thing is that I've stopped spending on my cards, and hopefully one of them will be gone by the end of January (pay rise hasn't seemed to materialise for the promotion yet but promotion extended to Easter so more time to gather cash!). Once Next account out of the way, going to throw more money at RBS for the NUT card, and transfer as much stuff off it as I can - need to make a big dent in that over the next 12 months.

Anyway happy Christmas one and all and a good saving year in the future!

  • Well done BogusDruid. You are doing so well. I imagine that when things really start snowballing it will be fantastic to see those numbers come down quicker and quicker.

    Happy MSE 2013.

Fantastic bogusdruid. You are a great example to all that are in debt.
The best thing about this is you have started to sort it out BEFORE Christmas. It is so sad on this forum in January when people are posting their debt problems only to explain it got worse over Christmas.
    Good luck, you deserve it.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.
  • Well, Christmas has been and gone and strangely this year doesn't seem to have made much impact on the money front - perhaps I'm getting better:j. I'll have to confess to resorting to the credit card:(once - needed underwear desperately and it doesn't come cheap - but this month's payment has balanced that out. I've also been naughty and bought a couple of things in the next sale (a jacket that was £40 cheaper than it should have been (would never have paid that much anyway), a new pair of suit trousers and a pair of half price jeans that make my bum look amazing and me slim - got to be worth it!:D:D)).

Just need to pay my sister for the shopping that she did, but it's looking like I may be able to save a couple of hundred pounds this month (unless there are any problems) to throw at the debts.

Happy New Year and hope that the money saving continues - must count the change pot for an overpayment to something to start the new year as I mean to go on.

1 NSD so far this month:A

  • With the posting and keeping on track. Did try to do a diary but can never find it on here, so continuing with this one. It has been a hectic 6 months or so and the money saving hasn't really happened as well as it did. Probably because there isn't the same urgency that there was last year. But I DO want to get rid of the credit cards, i DO want an accoutn without an overdraft facility and i DO want more money left at the end of the month than scrabbling through coppers and having to say no a lot of the time.

  • Well, not too bad this month (apart from the last week when I seem to have run out of money). Anyway analysed my spending and found several things
1 - grocery shopping has gone through the roof again - buying too many things that we aren't eating and not looking for the money saving offers. Also not checking price guarantees etc
2 - spent a lot of money entertaining kids during the holiday when we should have been taking packed lunches and making use of the national trust membership more
3 - bought lots of new clothes (essentials really to replace worn out stuff), however, I have also got the sewing machine out to start making my own at a fraction of the price (and it should fit properly)

Basically, became complacent and haven't been thinking do i need it or just want it. In terms of marking books, my www is haven't increased debt, but ebi planned ahead more before making purchases
