Help - What can I plant, seed wise

Hello,

I'm sure you must get several of these a day, but I'm in a slight pickle.

At the weekend my mini greenhouse thing, blew over in the wind taking all my hard work and seeds with it, and to add insult to injury the newest addition to the house decided it would be nice to tear the plastics apart and go to town on the soil/mini plants.

I've managed to save some but not all, I know at the moment that the weather is all over the place. Is it still possible to plant everything from seed still?

I'm looking at planting peas, sweetcorn, broccoli, cauliflower, squash, pumpkin, spring onion ect

Thanks for any help.

It's getting on a bit but it's not impossible. If you've still got spare seeds get them in asap and chances are they'll catch up just fine.

  • *hugs you* What a nightmare! I had my mini greenhouse blow down three times through the winter and eventually had to give up on replanting the sweetpeas which were fortunately the only thing I had in there, and that was frustrating enough!

As for sowing things, I usually just go by what it says on the packets, but as far as I'm aware, there's very little it's too late for yet! :-)

Certainly, all the things you've mentioned above are things I'm still sowing, for successional cropping. :-) I sowed squash outdoors at the end of May last year, when I planted out the indoor-raised plants, and to be honest they very soon caught up with the pot-raised ones!

  • I'm not sure about broccoli & cauliflower but the rest should be fine - sweetcorn needs to be started off the soonest I think though

You could have a look at this thread here. It's a fairly comprehensive. list of May planting. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3197262

Like most people said, if you plant it now it should catch up. Good luck

Don't forget to weigh the green house down with something heavy or apply guy ropes.
