DRO limit - Tax Credit Overpayments- STATUTE BARRED???

Can tax credit overpayment's be classed as statute barred? I have recieve letters from tax credit stating i owe 3 seperate amounts of £652.01, 379.40 and £336.88. When i asked when these are owed from she said 2006!! Making them 6 years old! I have had no communication from them in all this time can these be classed now as statute barred!? I am in the process of a DRO and its already near to 14500, and cant be above 15000 so any i can get rid of without including would be great

They can be statute barred, yes.

All that means however is that legal action should not be possible. Not that the debt isn't valid or owed.

I think in this case that is not going to be easy, and may just not be possible.
