See the original thread - I did email them - and received a one sentence reply which said that they could not discuss the matter because of FSA Regulations!!

I tried again to say it was nothing to do with FSA, simply an A&L offer, but got an even shorter sentence saying do not write to us again on this matter!!

Customer Service??? A&L are an awful lot to deal with.
(And the emails I sent were both very reasonable and not demanding - just asking if an 'alternative' for 'oldies' might be available.)

Yes, I saw that. E-mails are no good, you need to talk to a human being, preferably one with clout. I would telephone A&L, ask to speak to a Customer Relations manager and put in your complaint, both about the original deal and your subsequent treatment. I have done this any time I've had problems with banks or building societies and have had good results every time. If you get fobbed off, tell them that you intend to bring their rather shoddy behaviour ( I agree with you, it looks unfair to offer an incentive which is not actually available to some people on the basis of their age ) to the attention of one of the national newspapers. The Daily Mail's money section always takes an interest in this sort of thing.

You might like to have a look here, as well -

As an A&L shareholder I am saddened to see customers being treated badly. I hope that you are successful, and that you will post any result here.

    Yes, will try your suggestions.

Good to see that you did understand my underlying complaint was actually nothing to do with 'Travel Insurance', whereas some of the other posters ( and Alliance & Leicester!!) did not!

    Cheers.
