Ps no one ever said a pond was cheap.

Agreed - my pump/lamp combination costs at least £100 a year to run if it's on full-time... It's going on a timer when I finally get my garden electrics sorted out.

    Thanks for your replies.
    I do have a pump/filter.
But I am now thinking about doing away with that and get an 'all in one' could be a good idea. It would be in the pond, instead of having the UV on show beside it.
So what our your thoughts about this one?

    Thanks again

Ticks most boxs , bulb replacement is standard price, cable is long enough .

To be picky , not a company I have heard of , but do we really need a 'name'
The whole assemble will have to be lifted from water to clean the sponge filter , easier for you as your water is not so deep .

    Conclusion . Looks good

Oh I really wouldn't recommend that one, we tried that when we re-did pond a few years ago, and we went through 3 (replaced under warranty, died after about 2months max) before we gave it up as a bad lot and went back to separate pump/filter/uv. We did have a bioforce UV filter, but now gone to a separate hozelock UV, a fishmate (self cleaning) filter and some other make of pump. It's working really well, pond is cleared than it has been for years :) (we also have an additional fishmate pump hooked to a bioforce filter (was UV but the sleeve broke in the frozen weather, so is now just being used as a filter) just as extra, because they were still working.
The UV is about 50cm long though, so not exactly hidden away.

Once again thanks for your replies.
So going back to having a seperate UV what do you think about this one by Hozelock?

So the warranty worked . Were you just unlucky ? If there was a design fault big company like hozelock would have fixed the problem/ or stopped selling that model

Yep the warranty worked :) (although we never actually got a refund, just 3 replacements, when the 3rd one went, we didn't couldn't contact the seller (ebay, no longer there) and hozelock couldn't refund us, but did a partial exchange for a bioforce UV filter-GREAT customer service I have to say) It said it was able to be used as a solid handling pump, but the sponges in the inbuilt filter got too clogged up, even with weekly cleaning, then the bearings on the pump died. I think we were maybe just unlucky, and it might be ok in an ornamental pond, with no fish, just to be a fountain, but I don't think it has the welly for a fish pond. And once one bit breaks, you have to replace the whole thing, whereas with separates, it's one at a time.
