Save your money, bands aren't like they used to be in the old days. Music you could sing along to that wasn't about guns or drugs or FILTH.

Bare naked ladies sounds like a burlesque show. "Furniture", now THAT was a band!

p.s. just joking, go and enjoy!

In 1986 (I am that old!) Queen were playing Knebworth, I didn't go, thinking it was a fair bit of money, travel etc, and I thought 'I'll go next time'... Sadly, Queen never toured again. I say if you really like them go. I did see Queen in 1984, and I am so glad that I at least saw them, but never think you might have another opportunity to do something you really want to do, so long as you can afford it. I remember from your previous posts that you are doing really well, so I'd say treat yourself.

Old? Nooo, I worked on that gig! I was very young and starting out, just did a bit of rigging and cut the gels (very glam eh!) It still sits up there as one of the best, the Knebworth festival in 1990 is my number 1 though, that one just plain rocked with all of my musical heros under one festival roof.

As for the BNL, go for sure, they are tons of fun and we all need a bit of that sometimes.

OMG go. I just missed NIN in London cos I don't have cash at the mo and I'm gutted.

There's no point saving money if you don't occasionally let yourself spend it.

    Go .....now! :D

  • I get a lot of free passes into gigs and events by writing reviews for websites and magazines.

I am a qualified journo, which helps, but it's something I've done for about the last eight years, before I was qualified and just had a burning desire to write!

Would the local paper or any ents mags in your area be interested in a BNL review?

Nah, don't go. Pay £22.50 off another debt and then regret it for months & months to come as you carry on being a committed DFW and not spend money on anything else.

    :rotfl:

Meanwhile, back in the real world.......GO! And enjoy. Savour every moment.

I love gigs, they could get me back into debt easily but I have learned to be very selective these days and budget, sell, Quidco etc for them where possible.

Sometimes you've just got to give in to temptation ( says she with tickets to see Take That in her hand :j )

Life's too short to not enjoy it every now and again ;)

Glad I'm not the only person from DFW going to see Take That! Tickets were a little steep to say the least (NOT very MSE  ) and I'm having to travel from Edinburgh to London for the gig BUT I have got accommodation for FREE as my cousin is going with me and she stays not very far from the venue :j

Can you make the money needed by ebaying or extra work?

That way it wouldn't impact on the debt repaying and you'd feel you'd earned the treat??

That's what I do if I want a treat - I work out total cost and then work out how I am going to make that much extra to pay for it. OK - if I was a die hard I suppose I could use that money to pay off more debt but the way I see it if you have no treats you will lose motivation - and if you end up resenting the DFW way then you are much more likely to give up altogether.

Go - have a fantastic time - and balance it out with a matched bet or two, or a car boot, or some sales on eBay.
