Before you opt for standard rates, ensure the standard rate wasn't offering any discounts that the E7 wasn't. As long as they are both the same, the cheaper one is best for you as you are in the borderline area.

Originally, to break even on E7 suppliers said it was 70/30. This came from nationalisation days though so its very out of date. More recently, 76/24 has been used. However, there is no consideration for regional pricing in this or weather changes.

So, its all out of date calcs that suppliers use, the call centre people will just have been told yo check the %, not apply a pricing calculation. If they don't do what you've done, its simply nit possible to determine which is best with a borderline consumption.

You are inside the %'s used over the years so its easily possible you could go either way.

Another way to check is to not only look at the cheapest quote, look at the rest and see if their standard product is cheaper. If it is, you are better off on standard.

Another trick to save costs is not yo have a meter change. Some suppliers charge for these now, SP do. A lot of the E7 meters can be switched to standard without changing the meter. The supplier just changes your tariff and updates the distributor by changing the Profile Class (PC) you see within your bills supply number from 02 (E7) to 01 (standard). Not all meters work this way but if its available to yours, it could save a cost. As long as you have no storage heating wired to your off peak consumer unit, nothing will be turned on.
