Just to be clear, the adviser you spoke to would have got the same amount of sales points by completing your online application in branch, as she would have by running through a new application.
As for only being offered the credit-restricted Select Silver account and no higher - that would be based on whatever turns up in the bank's credit search. e.g. you could still have applied for Advantage Gold, then later had an application decline due to credit considerations.0 -

Thanks for the reply. I had a phone call from natwest customer relations yesterday who advised me what you have, regarding the sales points.
They did also say though, that there was no reason why the advisor couldn't open the account in branch other than being under trained, she spoke to the assistant manager at the branch in question who assured her that she will train her staff and has apologised.
The account is now being sorted for me by customer relations who have also credited £20 compinsation to my select silver account.
All in all I'm happy with how this complaint has been dealt with and looks to be an isolated incident.
