Mine also loved Paddington, Asterix, Tintin and the Wombles. I find that I have to be really careful as the maturity and emotional understanding of my 6 year old is not the same as his reading age. We have given up reading school books as he finds them boring, the kids have a reading record and we fill it in with library books instead. Pushing kids to read books they find boring is the quickest way to turn kids off reading!
