The moulded ones aren't going to be awful, they're used in the majority of homes as far as I know! The look fine, which is the main thing really

i'm also thinking of changing 6 internal doors and the staircase banister, and was looking at the wickes or the premdor from screwfix.
Any ideas on what the difference of quality is?

Also is it worth trying to do it myself.. i'm a very basic DIY person by the way.

Penny-Pincher, we repalced all our doors with plain wood ones from B&Q with the intention of waxing them. This idea soon changed when it used half a tub of expensive wax on one side of a door (we had 6 doors) and it hardly looked any different, ended up using a matt varnish which looks fantastic.
