Why do the DWP ignore a medical certificate that certifies medical retirement?.

What benefit are you talking about? Medical retirement doesn't normally mean you can't do any work, it just means that someone, either HR or your GP has decided you are not able to continue with your current job due to your health issues.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

There are normally two levels of medical retirement.

The first is as you say - retired as you can't do your own job.

The second is the enhanced type where you are found by your GP and normally a disability analyst for the pension scheme, as being unable to do any type of work.

If you're looking for a serious answer then some background info would help.

Your post title is ESA, did you try to claim ESA & told you weren't entitled? Was this due to income, savings or something else?
Have you claimed ESA & asked to fill in a form or attend a medical & you believe you shouldn't have to?
    Or anything else....

Though, to answer your rather limited question, when it comes to ESA the DWP basically ignore anything & anyone except ATOS.
Unless you appeal ATOS-sers decision that is.

I was granted an enhanced pension by the people who manage my scheme - who just happen to be ATOS. it makes not a blind bit of difference when it comes to ESA.

I was awarded the enhanced pension after being assessed by ATOS who then put me in in the WRAG for ESA and said i will be fit for work in 3 months, the same ATOS who said i will not be able to work again.

You couldn't make it up could you? It would be funny if it wasn't so blooming tragic.

I too was retired by ATOS. But put in WRAG. Which I think was the right decision. I certainly hope to be back in work pretty soon. I also may be living in cloud cuckoo land, but think that was the right decision for my circumstances.

You only ever hear the bad points about ATOS, but sometimes they do get things right

But they do get more wrong than right, hence the thousands and thousands of appeals.

I don't doubt that, but you almost always here of the down side. No one ever posts about the positives. It can be quite scary for people reading all the bad stories.

Because of all the false and missing info that ATOS send the DWP after medicals, these are peoples genuine experiences and they are worried how it affects them.No matter what the subject is you only hear negatives eg,you will not hear my delivery was made on time but you will hear i waited in all day and my delivery didn't arrive.Negatives affect people and when it involves financials such as ESA people worry.
