Ninth Anniversary 100 Posts Combo Breaker
Just set up the above, is it ok to just leave all the settings as the defaults, also my laptop is a 5 year old Acer 5920 and the wireless security is WPA-PSK is this ok or can it be changed to WPA2 on a computer this age.

    You could look into the specs of the wireless card/feature on the laptop,
    but provided you can connect the laptop to the router with an ethernet cable and can get into the router's admin pages,
    why don't you try changing to WPA2 and see if the laptop can still connect wirelessly?
    You can always change back, if you have the ethernet connection working.
    (You can have both ethernet and wireless connections active simultaneously.)
