i have been looking around for a new pushchair for my son who has just turned 3.he cant manage a 40 mins round trip twice a day to school (september will be 3 times). he is very hard to push in a small buggy and really wanted something smaller than the 3 wheeler im using now.
have looked at maclaren xlr and baby joggers than have a higher weight limit than most buggies..can anyone suggest anything else? or have opinions on those 2?:)

The baby jogger is great as you Can fold it with one hand and it's not horrendously heavy0

Why not buy one of those bikes the child rides with the long handle at the back that you push,i dont know how to place links but i'm sure someone knows what i'm talking about.
He will feel more grown up riding one of them rather than a pushchair,he'd be a target for other kids to bully if they see him being pushed to school in a pushchair.
I live near an infants school and i often see mums with bikes, also the odd scooter.0 -
I had a Micralite for my ds when he was that age and would thoroughly recommend it, easy to push, really light weight and easy to fold - funky looking too

Hi,
I've been searching the net for the very same answer, DS is almost 3 but very tall and slim, we are currently using a maclaren quest which I can now feel it draging whilst pushing him. I'm thinking? maybe getting him something new and letting DD use the maclaren it only goes up to 15kg max weight. One of my 'helpers' told me some of her other children use special needs buggys but I'd rather carry on with my searches I'm sure that there will be something for heavier children out there.
Also I'm worrying about car seats..another story

mountain buggy actually make an XL version for larger children- dont know what its like folded. The phil and teds a lovely to push even with weight in (I have twins). Having air filled tyres makes it sooo much easier but tend to be on bigger pushchairs. I have a baby jogger city mini (double for my twins) but finding it harder to push now they are heavier- although baby jogger do make other types with air filled tyres (city elite i think)0

The XLR is amazing! My six year old daughter ended up back in hers after being in hospital. Had to borrow it back from her new born cousin :-)0
