You are going to end up creating a lot of problems for yourself, no matter what your intentions are regarding "collecting" debit cards.

You are already waving big red flags at banks, I'd not be surprised if other banks on your list start shutting the accounts down.

No it's not illegal, but could be looked on suspiciously by the banks as to why you need so many.

That said it would be useful to have a banking hobbyist on the forum , I wonder if he will post in the future

I did wonder why he didn't mention pre-paid cards if his hobby is collecting VISA/Mastercards
