GF moving in

Good Evening all,

I am looking for some advise with reguards to my girlfriend moving into my house with me.

A bitty about me I have a pretty well paid job and work aboard for about 6-7 months of the year. My credit rating is not great 475 on Equifax now GF credit rating is 600 on Equifax.

So here is the question will it effect my GF's credit rating if I put her name onto the house hold accounts(bills) so that she can deal with things when I am away working.

Another question, What about setting up a joint bank account I am thinking it is better just in her name and I cna put money into that so we can start saving for those rainy days...

Thanks for your help

    No, it will not.

If you hold a joint current account, then your credit reference files will become linked, and this may impair her ability to apply for future credit.

If you hold a joint savings account, this won't be the case.

If you put all the money into an account in her name, then all the money belongs to her. Should it happen that you split up, then you won't be entitled to any of the money in the account.

Also could be the case with a Joint Account, guess it will be who gets to the bank first.

Personally I'd avoid the joint account altogether unless you're using it just to pay the joint monthly bills but given the OP's credit rating what you've said about the linking is correct.

you can open an account such as the yorkshire building society cash transactor, which is a savings account from which you can pay direct debits and standing orders

however it wont link you financially as it is not a credit account - no overdraft, cheque book or debit card facilities
