Probably no better than this cheap 3D TV:

There's a big difference between cheap & value for money.
  • Ok, I got the celcus tv from sainaburyson Sunday. Here is my brief appraisal.
The tv replaces a Samsung award winning 40 inch Led that has been moved to another room so the pressure is on for this one to perform. First off its easy to wall mount and I had no problems in doing so, I did have to find my own fixings though, but i expected that. The picture quality on HD is what I would expect. It's never going to win any awards (I'm comparing this with a £1350) but the picture is good given the cost and features of the tv. It's easy to set up and has loads of options for different picture settings. But I still got the very slightly "fuzzy" image that isn't there in the Samsung.
This is the first experience of 3d so I don't have anything to compare it to. However the 3d effect on transformers dark of the moon is pretty good. I did find that if you looked around the screen, you could see a large amount of ghosting and "double image", but as I mentioned this could be an effect of the 3d technology. You do lose a lot of image definition on 3d, the picture quality is lost and although it's a nice feature to have on the set, I preferred to watch the film in 2d to get the picture quality again this could be because of the 3d effect more than the tv. The tv is a passive 3d and you get 4 pairs of glasses which is good-if you need more, you can use the ones from the cinema or the pound shop sell them.
I can't really tell you much about the sound as this is pumped through a home cinema amp.
Overall for £329.99 I can't complain about this tv. It's excellent value for money with 4 HDMI ports, USB ports plus all the usual connections as well. The chances of it staying in this room are more dependant on the 3d content that sky offers. So far this has not been great (I'm not a super league fan!) but this may change in time.
If you are wanting a top quality high def tv, look for a Panasonic or Samsung (at much much higher prices) but if you want a cheap, good value 42" tv to experience 3d, then you can't get better at this price.

Thanks for the review wizard. I have a feeling that a lot of these panels have screens which are made by major manufs like samsung or the few other production plants and a lot of the quality is down to the surrounding chipsets.

At the moment i have a Sony Wega KF42SX300 which i got free of charge from someone who was going to lob it out !

    su-42sx3_b%C3%BCy%C3%BCk_sehpal%C4%B1.gif

    Hows that for MSE !

I have had it maybe 3 or 4 years now and when i first got it,the picture was carp. I did some homework and stripped/cleaned/serviced the optical unit myself and it has returned it to mega vivid picture mode so its great. Its standard def. There are a lot of these going very cheap on ebay and if you are technical and refurb the optical unit then you will have a great SD TV at a bargain price.

If anyone has one and wants to know about the optics unit..drop me a line..
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
  • Can anyone give me a measure of real world power consumption for this TV set?

    Thanks

I had this problem last night with my Celcus 42" LCD 3D TV. i.e. no sound on any input sources.

After trying everything obvious, I decided to factory reset the TV, or "First time installation" as it's called in the menus which did actually bring the sound back.

I don't have any idea what caused it though.
