Playa de Palma

Currently looking at booking 4 nights in Playa de Palma in July for a girls weekend away. It seems to meet the criteria of having easy access to a beach and city. 2 of us in our thirties and one eighteen. Possibly looking at Hotel THB El CID. Just wondered if anyone had any experience of staying in the area and what you thought. Thanks.

Go Regular to there (just back last week form a few days away)
Taxi from Airport will be 14 Euro ish or you can catch a bus for 2 Euro (number 21 which runs round the back of El Cid every 30 mins)
El Cid is actually in Can Pastilla ,Playa de Palma refers to the 6k stretch of beach running from Palma to Arenal
Nice place with some entertainment (a lot are hotel based) If you want lively nightlife you will need to walk towards Arenal but that is 99% German
The beach around there is as good as any in Majorca and El Cid is right on the beach front
Palma is only 10 mins away on bus (number 15 i think) or you can hire bikes and go on a ride on the purpose built cycle track along the sea front into Palma ,you go right under the flight path into PMI and during July you will get a plane taking off / landing every 2 mins
The area itself is good providing the weather is good ,July you should be ok as will be 30C plus
Not sure on you budget but there is cheaper and just as good hotels to stay at than El Cid

Thanks so much for that. Really helpful.
We are looking around the £300 - 350 mark ideally but up to £400. The El Cid seemed to get the best reviews on trip advisor of the ones I could see in that sort of price range. Are there any hotels that you think are better value? Really appreciate your input as beach/resort hotels are a bit new to me as I am a city break sort of girl!0 -
Least its near the airport, nothing worse than along transfer on the other side. Also are your flight timings good?0

Think El Cid is a 4 star hotel ?
I have stayed in Apolo/Alexanda/Orleans/Anfora which are 3 star
Apolo and Orleans are at the Palma end of Can Pastilla and if you get the right rooms you can sit on your balcony over looking Palma and can see the cathedral
(Will dig some photos out to show you what i mean)
Would suggest having a look round to get prices from say Alpharooms or Travel Republic
To be honest there is not a lot to choose between them ,food was good in all of them and if you read reviews on trip advisor its mostly people slagging the food off because they couldnt have chips with every meal
The city break girl in you would be suited to Palma and as i said its only a short distance away (hotels expensive though)
Very nice city and lots to see and doHave a nice day
