Replacement oven door

Hi,

I have recently cracked the glass on the front of the door of my Neff oven (model B1691N0GB/01 if you're interested) and need to get it replaced. I have spoken with Neff and some independent suppliers and they have advised that the glass alone cannot be replaced, and that I will need to buy the an entire replacement door at around £230. Obviously this is a lot of money, especially when it is just the glass that is broken.

Does anyone know of any sites / services that would be able to sort this for cheaper? Say a specialist company that can do bespoke oven repairs? Or failing that a retailer that does good value replacement parts?

Thanks for any help.

I did just the same with my Stove oven door and after scouring the internet I found that a glass replacement would cost over 130 quid.
It is the outer glass pane that shattered so it only needed to be toughened glass not heatproof so I went to a local glasscutting business and asked them what they thought. They told me they could get it done but that they would need to send the glass away to get it toughened(after they drilled out a couple of holes for the door handle) and it would take a week. This they did and a week later they called me to pick up the oven door with the new glass panel glued in place.
The glass was clear instead of being smoky but that did not matter at all. What did matter was that it cost me a grand total of £36. Now for that price I reckon that was a fantastic deal.
Try and find a glasscutter in your area. I'm sure they could do the repair for way less than what the manufacturers are wanting.
I was once told that manufacturers are required by law to stock £1million pound worth of spares but because they would rather the public throw away faulty items and buy a new one, they price them so high that it is hardly worth trying to fix anymore.
I was seriously considering doing just that as £130 is a decent fraction of the cost of a new cooker.

Shameless plug but you could try us on http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk or email Dave on spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk as, if it can be found, he'll usually find it at as sensible a price as possible.

Normally though all oven doors come as separate parts, it's unusual for them to be supplied as complete assemblies.

Neff list the outer part of the door as a "Door-outer" on their spares site at £201.85

Google "Neff e-shop", click "Sparepart Search" and enter your model number where it says E-Nr.

    Still expensive, though.

Your local independent whitegoods repairer may be able to obtain it a bit cheaper from his suppliers, but it is still likely to be around £180+
