Things to say about Bruges?

Hi,
For my parents 25th Wedding Anniversary, my sister and I are sending them to Bruges for a day trip (by coach).

I'm making them each a "ticket" as I have a confirmation of the trip but its just on a bit of paper and isn't very special. I want to put some facts about Bruges on the tickets etc. So far I have
Make sure you have your passport ready!

Enjoy the incredible gothic architecture, world famous beers and chocolates
But I have no idea what else to say!

I've never been and from searching google, I haven't found much about Bruges. Anyone able to help?

Thanks :o

I've been a couple of times and really enjoyed a trip on the canals. It lasted about 30 mins and might be a good start to the day. You just turn up at the place they start and get on.

What about giving them a guide book so that they can plan what they might like to look at before they go? I enjoy that bit as well.
I need to make a new list for 2014
think of something to put on it!:rotfl:
Try harder for 2014 as I never managed it in 2012 or 2013

Thanks, I've been looking for an up to date guide book but haven't had much luck lately. It's their anniversary on Wednesday (16th) but the trip isn't until June 10th so gives me a bit of time to track one down!

Bruges is a really delightful place to visit.
I have just googled it- looks like you can take a balloon ride (but my computer security wouldn't let me look!)

You can plan a tour here:
    http://www.citytripplanner.com/en/citytrip-Bruges
You set the date, your starting point and then what type of things you want to see, and then it plans a route. They might have fun playing with the ideas!

Don't forget to visit the Beguinage- can't think what that translates as; convent ?almshouses?
I have been in winter when the canal trip doesn't run, but that would be one of my choices.

Famous for selling lace (Brussels lace mainly)

Perhaps a trip to the b!guinage, the Church of Our Lady, the 13th Century Belfort or the Groeningemuseum?
Relax with a cruise down the canals or a walk around the market

There's also horse & carriage rides and you have to mention the waffles and the culinary delight of chips & mayo!

There's the Michaelangelo statue (Adoration of the Lamb?) in one of the churches and a vial reputedly containin Christ's blood in another, if I remember rightly.

If its only a day trip they cant be spending that much time in Bruges if you take in the time to get to the port, sail over and then get to Bruges at the other end.

And then come back again, thats going to take a lot of hours out of the 'day trip'

I have something to say about the place - expensive, my OH and I sat outside a lovely pub and ordered 2 orange juices, drank the juice, got the bill and I nearly fell off me chair 12 euros

That was about 5 years ago.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

They get at least 4 hours actually in Bruges. Not long but hopefully long enough for them to see what they want to see. It is also a day out for them which they don't often get!

    I have ordered a guide from amazon..http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1848485360/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00

I'm not sure about prices but I would expect it to be a little on the expensive side as it is a tourist area etc.
