Thank you to those that helped

Especially Rogerblack.

I won my reconsideration and have been placed in the Support Group for ESA. It took 5 months but only because they took so long over replying and I had to get my MP and Mr Chris Grayling involved. Once they had finally started the process it only took them a week for the reconsideration.

I'm really relieved and appreciate the help from the few.

That's really good news Folar. I didn't help - I don't know enough about ESA to offer advice to anyone really, but I agree that there are some posters on this forum who are very helpful. I think it is lovely of you to post not only the result but also your thanks to those who did help.

Im sorry if im on wrong place, im not computer literate , and dont know how to post things on here, but im in need of advice please. I have fibromyalgia, and pain amplification, i am on income support , which i believe will be soon changed to esa, untill the dreaded medical, which decides my fate, but i am worried sick about all this..I can do most of the descriptors on the form, but the flip side of the coin is, that i am in constant pain in the whole of my body, i get hardly any sleep because of the pain, so im constantly tired, and it takes all my energy just getting myself through each day, and on to the next one.I know that there is no way i can bring work into that equation,.im not very good with words, and how do i descibe at a medical , that i can do the activities described, but tend to choose not to, as it causes me so much pain and discomfort, I dont feel i tick any of the right boxes for getting esa, and yet i feel so ill.

Folar, thanks for a positive story. I'm so pleased for you.

    Re ESA
It is not so much if you can do the descriptors, but how easily you can do these things in a work related way. So could you for example constantly move your arms, fingers etc to operate a PC for example all day long doing an 8 hour day in an office environment. If the answer is no, then you should fit the non work group criterior. With fibromyalgia, the muscles scream out at you constantly on any movement, so get some support from your GP and if you have a consultant from them as well. That was just an example to give you an idea of the kind of thing they are after. The problem I have is that I do work, but still need ESA for the time being as I have an incurable illness which if the right treatment kicks in and works means that I could possiblt do more hours. However, all of the drugs I take have some very bad side effects, which means I find it very difficult to do more than 12 hours a week.
Do you or have you tried to get DLA for mobilty as it sounds like you might qualify for that. At least the low rate. And you might also get LR care as well, if you find it hard to prepare a main meal and the pain could cause you injury doing so. Application form available on line to download and complete on the PC, then print it off.

Under the new PIP scheme, it is very likely that the two lower rates in DLA will disappear. As anyone claiming DLA today they will be retested under PIP as from next year.

Is it really worth the hard work, stress and energy needed if all you are expecting are the lower rates?
