zipping files

Could anyone tell me in really simple terms how to zip files together as need to do it for ou exam. Thanks.

    depends on operating system

    for XP, vista, windows 7, right click on desktop, new compressed zip folder, copy the files into the folder

    or install 7zip

    Alternatively: [Ctrl/Shift]-click files/folders, then right-click and select Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
