Can't get my e-mail account set up on ipad2

I am trying to get my e-mail to come to my ipad2. My ipad new account page says cannot connect using SSL, do you want to connect without. I chooose yes and then it says the IMAP server "pop.ntlworld.com" is not responding. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the "incoming mail server" field. My notes say that the incoming server is pop.ntlworld.com so don't knwo how to check this or whats wrong. TIA.

As the name suggests, pop.ntlworld.com is a POP3 server, not IMAP.

Doesn't the ipad ask for email address and password then set up account automatically?
How do I add a signature?

    See if this helps

    or try imap.ntlworld.com

    imap.virginmedia.com might also work.

The link you posted takes me to an error page which says parameters not set, but thnx anyway. ipad does ask for your email address and password so I thought it would set it up automatically but as I say i got those error messages. Anyway all resolved now. I used imap instead of SSP and I had a message which said this e-mail account may not be able ot send or receive e-mail are u sure you want to proceed? I'd previously said no as I was concerned I'd end up with no e-mails. Anyway this time I said yes and saved it and now all my e-mails are there. Thnx.
