You now mention you have had help with a Halifax credit card….
Does this change things I don’t know ??? but I guess Halifax will only provide so much help ??? before they say no that’s all the helping you’re going to get ??? I really don’t know ?????? -sorry!
I am not an expert and a ‘newbie’ on this site- I was just telling you of my personal experience- but I definitely think it’s down to individual circumstances- for example, like I said in my original post I have been with the Halifax 9 years and in all this time kept my bank account in good order (I don’t have a credit card with them) –never exceed my overdraft limit, always paid fee on time, etc….
What I’m saying is- don’t get your hopes up and bank on getting your overdraft fees frozen.0 -
Yes they did help me, but often these two departments don't really share these details, they can check if they like and it's taken into consideration on applications obviously.
As the departments are seperate it does not come up on the screen unless they look into it further.
So I hope because as you have said I have been with them 10 years+, have my mortgage with them and have always been okay in the past. It's just now that I have to make some serious changes once and for all.
Thanks again.0 -
Good Luck!
It might be a good idea to have a copy of your ‘Statements of Affairs’ in front of you when you phone- I was on the phone over half an hour –basically she went through and completed a SOA with me on her computer- so if you have the figures at hand that will be good. I did have to go through what other debts I have and what the minimum repayments were…. –like I say I basically went through a SOA with her.
And yes, she did look through my account transactions- I wasn’t prepared with my figures- for example, exactly how much my house insurance was so she looked back through my transactions….0 -
Can I ask you what you had available for debt repayment, reason I ask is because when I did deal with Halifax card a few months back at first they refused my arrangement, because they said I could not afford to pay back the debt, apparently if you don't have spare money to pay back the debt then they will not even consider arrangements or anything like that and refer you directly for debt management - not sure why. So anyway I had to go away and fudge my figures to return and pretend I had more money than I actually did. (if that makes sense)
So can you help me with an idea of what you had left over to pay debts with - because I expect they would not do it if you were spending more than you earnt.
Thanks again.0 -
