Holiday for 2013?

Hi there,

I am thinking of booking a holiday for 2013, mainly for the reason that I am a rubbish saver and if it's booked I can pay installments direct to the travel agents.

I am on a DMP but my youngest has just finished childcare (yay!) and so there is £120 pcm in my budget I could throw at a holiday. (Yes, I know I could throw it at debts, but my eldest is 14 and if I wait for my DMP to end he'll be 19-20 and won't want to holiday with Mum - I just want the memories of one subshine break before they grow up).

This gives me about £1500. There will be 3 of us and I would like all inclusive as by 2013 I will have 2 teenage boys who eat and eat and eat...

I can only go in the school holidays as I'm a teacher, but in Leicestershire where we break up a week before the rest of the country which makes a difference with some tour operators.

I can't do Easter next year (which I guess would have been cheaper) as their Dad has already bagged that one to take them to a family wedding abroad. So anytime from Saturday, July 13th.

Can I do this on £1500 AI? Where would be good for a single Mum and two teenage boys (they'll be 14 and 12)? Are there tour operators who would count my 12 year old as a child for a free child place? Are there discounts for booking this early?

Any advice welcome - I've only ever been on one package deal and that was my honeymoon 15 years ago!

So its three adults ?? at prime time Ai for £1500 .
Good luck , I think you will need it.

Would love to be proved wrong , for your sake, but Cheap Ai is a recipe for problems. As your kids ( but paying full price) but not consuming alcohol , I would try S.C. or a BB.

Try Airtours website, my husband, 12 year old son and I are going all inclusive to Turkey for 7 days in 3 weeks time and cost was under £1500. My son got a free child place and we are going in school holidays.

    Hope you find something suitable.

My two kids love San Miguel Hotel in Puerto San Migel Ibiza. Can be booked with Thomson £1506 for 7 nights from 13/7/12. The problem is your son may want to go with you again when he's 19. My son is 19 and had a great time there last year and would come again this year if he wasn't going to Magaluf with his friends and Rhodes with his girlfriend! My 13 yr old daughter loves it too.We are going for the 5th time this year. Returning guests and staff are very friendly. It's a small resort which I like as the kids can't go far. They all tend to stick together and have a great time. The animation team are great fun and there is always plenty going on. i am thinking of going somewhere else next year but my daughter is mortified.

I wouldnt want to start paying someone this far in advance in case they went bust or something.

If I was worried about not saving, Id open an ISA and put the money away in there, and earn some interest on it in the mean time. Then book a bit closer to the time. Or give it to a trusted family member or something. Anything over handing it over to a travel agent!

It seems like a a different travel company goes broke every week.

It's 2 paying adult price (me and my 14 year old) and then one who is 12 and still eligible for a child price (and free child place with some operators).

I don't mind paying AI adult price for my eldest despite him not drinking alcohol as he eats enough for 4 adults (and is still skinny - how??) If we were SC or BB then it would be costing me hundreds per day to keep him fed - plus they'd be asking for everything and we'd be watching the pennies and it wouldn't be so much of a holiday IYSWIM?

That's the kind of deal I am after. Although it is school holidays in leicestershire, it's still 10 days before the rest of the country break up so I think I'll still get slightly lower prices :) I'll have a look at Airtours, I was looking at First Choice tonight and they have a ton of free child places for 12yo :j

I can second the San Miguel, we went twice when the kids were a bit younger and my now 18 year old would go back. It's coming up under £1500 now too.

Have a look at the holiday villages with First Choice, a 12 year old will be kids price, not sure if they will come in the budget though.
If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in :D
