Help to remove Norton Anitvirus pop up

Every now and again a Norton pop up comes on Grandmas pc screen saying run scan. She hasn't got Norton anymore. We did have it years ago but we use Microsoft Essentials now. When I click on the x to close it, it doesn't like it and takes me to a screen which asks me to buy it. It confuses Grandma - she phones me every now and again about it asking what to do! Bit like the advert lol.! The pop up so annoys me and her. It must be in the old programs on the pc somewhere. How can I get rid of it? TIA.

If the above doesn't fully remove it, then it's always worth looking in 'Scheduled Tasks' for these.
In XP?
Scheduled tasks can be found by clicking on 'Start' -> 'All Programs' -> 'Accessories' -> 'System Tools' -> 'Scheduled Tasks'
or easier to reach through Control Panel if using the Classic View.
If Control panel shows the large icons (Category View), then it will be under 'Performance and Maintenance"
