Spray Painting the Room

I am painting my room and my friend suggests rather then using paintbrush/roller I should spray the room. Does anyone knows if this would be a good idea? IF yes what would I need to spray it with? Spray gun? Do not want to spend a lot on expensive tools. Would I need special paint?
Any piece of advice would be appreciated .

My H suggested this. I said no! I hate to think of the carnage and mess it would cause:rotfl:MFIT No. 810

We bought one of the paint sprayers that you use with household paints - you can get them at Homebase and B&Q. It was really easy once we got the hang of it.
However...... The paint we used decided to separate and then big black runs appeared in the paint (it was a coffee colour) and we ended up wasting money with the sprayer and having to go over it with a roller anyway. The sprayer does actually make much less mess than the roller did, it is more getting the hang of it s you do not make the mess, but it was no good with the paint we used.0 -
I would have though you would need more safety gear as well as a sprayer would create a fine aerosol of paint which is not good to inhale0

Thankyou all for suggestions. My friend who did spray the room was with the sprayer you use for fence and he says to dilute the paint. I shall certainly try and will inform the progress (if any).0
