Using storage basket as planter

Hi, Advice needed please. I have lots of storage baskets that I am not using. I have some seagrass and some reed. If I lined them with bin liner or similar would they be suitable as planters. They are the small ones from Argos. In my mind they would look lovely filled with herbs but bit worried that in real life they would go rotten or mouldy and not last too long.
Thanks for any help. Jackie

I used a wicker cat basket as a planter once-well, the cats refused to use it ;)

I lined it with plastic, but I'm afraid it did only last a couple of seasons before it fell apart.

They should work if they are strong enough, but they won't last that long if they get wet.

I got some cheap wash baskets from the supermarket and lined them with bin bags and they work fine, beware though, the rain hastily leeches out nutrients so they require more feed
