Hi all just to update I rang this morning and cancelled, bit mortified but just do not feel in the right place to do it and not sure it is what I really want.

You should of went anyway for the experience, you can never have enough interview experience. I have sat on a panel in the past and I think I was worse than the applicants :o just remember everyone will be nervous and we are all only human:)
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:
  • u really should have went, im not sure if im ready for it, but i know its where i want to head career wise, i doubt i will get it but once we do one interview then we can better prepare for the next. Getting the interview is half the battle, especially considering how many people apply for these things.

There is no short cut around the interview process - you have got to do it. Recently I've set myself the target of doing my best and putting across my selling points. If you fluff it, there will always be another job.

Are there job clubs where professional unemployed (or employed) people can go to support each other in terms of checking application forms, giving each other mock interviews etc? I know the job centre offer some support but it's mainly for people without good (or any) qualifications.

    Hi,

Can I suggest if that unemployed folks wanting help and advice getting into Health and Social Care they could consider contacting ARC Northern Ireland - they run a Getting Started Programme. The course I know of is being run in Belfast , I am not sure if it is offered elsewhere in province. ARC N.I get some funding from the EEC and their entry requirements change from time to time-e.g sometimes they open the courses to unemployed, other times males etc.. HTH:j
