returning an item to amazon

I've bought something from Amazon, it seems its a markeplace seller though, but I've changed my mind and decided I don't want it. It's stated as "dispatched" but it hasn't arrived here yet.

Would it be best to simply refuse delivery? Or sign for it and use Amazon's returns procedure, although in that case I'd have to pay return postage is that correct? Or is it different for marketplace sellers? I have 7 days under DSR I believe

Best to reject the delivery as you would be liable for return costs. You cannot use Amazons return system for marketplace sellers. Also email the seller to say you wish to cancel and will be rejecting the delivery.

Contact the seller immediately and ask if the dispatch can be stopped. Even though it's marked as dispatched the seller may still not have posted yet as they may not go to the post office on a daily basis. You can only refuse delivery if you're in when delivery is attempted. If it's left in a safe place or with a neighbour then you will have to pay to return the item although use the cheapest method to do so. Amazon won't require online confirmation of return if the item goes astray after being returned.
