"The claims guys" harrassing calls

We have had a good amount of calls from a company called "the claims guys" that seemed to have all "our relevant" details, name, telephone, e-mail address. I have told them repeatedly we are not interested, but they kept calling, one day they talked to my husband on the phone and somehow they said they will send their papers for more information. They sent their forms to filled in to OUR address and even an E-MAIL letting us know that it was on the way (so, yes, they had our details), I told my husband that we didn't need any company to claim and their percentage is over 30% any way, so we agreed that I will do all the paper work, since that day they keep phoning EVERY SINGLE DAY, I have told them we are not interested in all sorts of ways, from polite, to not that polite, asking them to take us out of their database, when I pick up the call they tell me that they can not do it, because my husband (which is actually the person they ask for) has to confirm HE is not interested. Still when my husband picked up the call and told them to stop phoning they said that they cannot stop the calls until he gives them the details they ask "because of data protection reasons " (What reasons are those?) My husband has been told by a friend that if he gives the details they will go ahead with the claim, because they have the details they need. In any way or the other we didn't give any details but still keep pestering every single day, which is really annoying , we have tried all sorts of tricks like saying he doesn't live anymore here, or saying "your calls are being recorded and I am just telling you that we don't want to be contacted by your company and we want our details to be deleted from your database, we are NOT interested". Would you believe that STILL the next day, we face the same situation ALL OVER AGAIN. I am sooo furious, has this happened to anyone? is there any way to get out of this? I thought that just telling a company we want to "opt out" from being contacted should be enough. I know that there is a list where you can include your number so you don't receive any commercial calls at all, but I have never been interested, usually you get the odd call and that is it, but this is becaming really harrassing.

I have had several calls from this company. They dont have your relevant details. They have just what is in the public domain.

    There are no issues.

I'm an IFA. So, I cant complain about insurances for starters plus I dont have PPI on anything. yet they told me I could complain and when I said I did my own insurances they said I could still complain. That would entail me paying them to write a letter to myself telling me to refund myself money for something I never paid for. That gives you an idea of the type of company this claims firm is.

There was a media article recently that the ministry of justice are investigating The Claims Guys due to significant volume of complaints. (one source below)

I suggest you make a formal complaint. You may also wish to complain to John Mann MP. He may not be your MP but he has experience in dealing with claims companies and even named on publicly as a scam company. He will forward your complaint on to your MP but at the same time it allows him to see the scale of the problem.

    Do also complain to consumer@claimsregulation.gov.uk.

The other trick is to invest in a very loud whistle to use whenever they call.

Interesting article. Before posting I had a look at google to see if I could find any info regarding the company but I didn´t find anything really related to all these calls.

Thanks for all the ideas about making a formal complaint, I didn´t think in the beginning of going that route (I was just thinking of the quick, straight way of finish with all these phone calls) but actually it is a very good idea, so I will follow your advice on that one. Probably at this stage there is not too much I can do about the phone calls, as for the look of it (from the article) they wouldn´t give too much of a toss if they are being investigated already.

A whistle?... Ha,ha :rotfl:, that´s a good one! Worth of consideration.

I have received the odd call but tell them I have already claimed myself without help and received full payment & I know for a fact there is nothing else I could claim for or I would again do it myself.

    They don't call again
