Filming of minors without parental permission

I can't believe some of the replies- why can't you be annoyed. From what you say- zoomed in footage- this wasn't just filming a crowded beach and your children happened to be there, it was deliberately filming those two. Legal or not( and it looks like it may not be), I would be furious. I hope the hotel listens to what you say. If not- then ask them if they really think all publicity is good publicity and go ahead and vent in as many forums as you can find and name the hotel.weight loss target 23lbs/49lb0

When my 2 boys were little they were at Botany Bay with their grandparents when filming was being done. First we saw was when they were both in an advertisement on the TV. I was shocked at this happening without permission being saught but the boys absolutely loved the fact that they were on the TV for their friends to see.0

It would hardly have been difficult for him to have approached you and asked permission to use the footage. And if they were in a local school uniform they are hardly likely to be tourists.
You were absolutely right to pull the hotel up on this. Well done.0 -
I am glad to hear that when you contacted the hotel they were receptive to your concerns and have closed the video. The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0

I'm glad you've got it sorted out, but I can't understand what the difference is between whether they were tourists or locals - surely the fact that footage was used in such a way without asking permission was morally (if not entirely legally) wrong either way?0

i feel the same and am quite surprised at the replies
i would be very angry, i dont care if its legal or not, i would not want my children used in an advert for something without my permission
obviously from my own point of view, there is also the issue of children who are either in care or in refuges and who are meant to have their locations secret, anyone can access an advert for a hotel, so it wouldnt be hard for someone to come across accidentally their child who they are legally estranged from for very good reasons
obviously, thats not going to be a common occurrence but it can happen0 -
Sorry- I missed your reply about the hotel when i posted last. Good result anyway!weight loss target 23lbs/49lb0
