FAO: Extant/So Sad Angel (Re: Barclays Student)

Have applied for an overdraft extension to £1,500 and though my reasons have been accepted the application has been cancelled temporarily by GCR due to various reasons. The budget planner was incomplete i'm told but i also need to provide either 3 months bank statements or a closing statement from my previous bank (Santander - who i no longer bank with) and i've been waiting for ages via post having contacted them by phone - i don't have much optimism from what i've read about people's problems with the bank (part of the reason why i left!). I even called in the branch with my driving license & student ID but they weren't willing to help without a bank card (even though the account is closed!) or previous statements which i don't have anymore.
I had provided this information when opening the student account with Barclays though and as far as i know this is also logged on the system so it seems weird that they want it all again? The other issue is a credit check which i'm fairly concerned about due to not being on the electoral roll here at Uni (i'm trying to sort that as we speak) as i wasn't on it at my previous address either (i've lived with my Nan, friends & didn't bother going on it at my flat before Uni as i didn't think it would be important stupidly). I suppose i just have to hope that goes ok? I'm going through horrific circumstance at the mo during the exam period & could really do with some help as i'm desperately worried this is going to culminate in a decline after being drawn out
I've been told about pre-approved limits but don't know if they exist (apparently this is in online banking but i can't see anything about it?). From what i've read GCR reviews applications if the cmr or branch challenges the computer generated limit (or lack thereof) which sort of contradicts when i've read elsewhere online where i've been told overdrafts for students don't need to go through the usual process & that students have simply popped into branch to get them approved where sufficient reason exists?
In advance THANK YOU SO MUCH to anyone that takes a look at this & has anything valid to say at all - in particular to both Extant & So Sad Angel who may be able to provide some support in difficult circumstance.
