Morning all, today is a nsd
homemade burgers mash and beans for tea, need spuds, bread and onions, however lidl have a box of 16 lollys for £1 on sat so i'm holding out until then
might have to rejig my meal plan tho.
Happychick would batch cooking work for you? or you could try getting a slowcooker? no-one says you have to stand for an hr every evening, even something as simple as making double and freezing half would work, i cook most of my meals for scratch however value pizza and garlic bread is a stable in my freezer for those can't eb bothered days.DEC GC £463.67/£450

I made too much pasta so have 'dug out' a tub of pesto from freezer which originally cost £2.39p (tesco finest), yellow sticker says 23p which is much more acceptable. I will add half to the pasta for two lunches tomorrow but not sure what to do with the other half? Any suggestions?
Have a feeling this is going to be an interesting month.....
I like to use pesto in potato salad and also omelette, or try a bit
on a cheese toastie.Slimming World at target0 -
Hi
Could I be put down for £400 this month please. This is for groceries and household stuff but does not include pets as we got another dog last month so I am buying the 3 different pet foods in bulk and it is easier to budget seperaterly I think. I have also decided to stop including takeaways in the budget as well now. We used to have a couple a week purely because I could not be bothered to cook but now we only seem to have them when we have been out on a family day so will add them in to family budget instead.April GC 9th-7th may £0/£3200 -

I'll be aiming for £200 again this month but hoping it won't be as close as it was last month!
Happychick - just remember that we're all different and we all have to start somewhere. When I first started food budgeting (before I joined this challenge), I used to spend over £200 a month for myself only. Over time, I started trying to bring this down and I'm now trying to spend £200 for me and DH. It's been a long journey! Also remember that our budgets also include different things, some people include dog food, toiletries, cleaning products and alcohol whilst others don't so, personally, I don't find comparing budgets very helpful.
Not sure if anyone knows the answer to this. I'm trying to shop more at Mr S. and have been getting till spits every week. Initially they were £4.50 off if you spent £30 then £3 if you spent £30 but I didn't get any when I spent £30.87 (after £3 off) yesterday. Does anyone know they work?
I've found that I often used to get £2 off £20 spend, or £3 of £3 spend vouchers often. Then it went through a lull and they started offering me 80 Nectar points when I spend £20 every week as a till spit (which works out as 40p off - not going to bother spending £20 just to get that!). Obviously I never used them and all of a sudden they have started offering me 'proper' money off again (ie £2 when I spend £20 etc). It may not be their 'rules', but I find that if I start spending less with them they try and tempt me back - they probably don't feel the need to reward 'loyal' customers as much.
I'm still on May's thread which is getting a bit lonely so I thought I would do my first post here to get the email alerts!Grocery Challenge Jan 24 0/300

Before I fell out with Sainsbobs over their coupon policy, I did ALL my shopping there and never got a money off till spit, never ever
My god daughter goes occassionally and ALWAYS gets them.0 -
Good morning, it has been a busy week here with family visiting, poorly children and of course, the lovely weather!! I haven't declared for May yet as need to build myself up to add it all into my spreadsheet. I know I went way over but also the reasons why so got something to work on this month!
Going to declare £400 for the month again, inc those dreaded beers!
I have noticed (and so has DH) that i tend to do a 'big' shop at the beginning of the month with the intention of doing smaller shops as the month progresses but that never happens. So, I have inventoried the fridge and freezer, done a meal plan and will try and do a smaller shop tomorrow (pay day).
On another note, got my phone bill today and don't have to pay for two months so instead of lettng that get swallowed up, it is going to be taken out and pay for the redecorating of the kids room that we plan to do over the half term!
Have a nice day

Just come on for a bit of a rant, as no one else to tell, I just answered my door to a very well spoken, dressed man, he apologised for disturbing me and explained that he was a gardener looking for more customers. I was very pleased as I am not too well and am struggling
to keep on top of the garden, so asked him to quote for mowing my lawn (tiny) and pruning a couple of Hydragas. Nearly fell of the step when he said, quite seriously he would do it for ONLY 120 pounds. Naturally I refused he then kept asking me how much I could afford, despite me saying several times, No please go away. He was quite insistant that he would give me a bargain, how much did I have. Was there anyone else at home he could talk too, I was by now really angry
and upset and said just a minute, I closed and locked my door and out the chain on, I then said to him through the gap, I am phoning the police and you can talk to them, looking out of the window I saw him departing rapidly. What a RAT I live in what are obviously old peoples bungalows, help signs etc. so I think he must have thought easy pickings here, but I am old style born and bred and 120 is two and a half months grocery bill for me.
OK rant over I am now going to get the mower and clippers and do it myself.Slimming World at target0 -
