:(

Just purchased a HP Pavillion g6. I have downloaded some new digital images (which i use for card making) and added some I aldready had from a memory stick and none of them will open in Word anymore! They used to on my old desktop and works laptop but now i get a box come up that says

select the encoding that makes you document readable. it then gives a choice of:
Windows (default)
MS dos
other encoding

I have tried all the suggested methods and it still shows up as a bunch of letters and numbers not the image it should be.

Any ideas why and how I rectify it? Not a happy bunny. brought this laptop especially for this purpose.

I know i can open in other formats (which do work) such as photo editing software but it is specifically Word that i have always used in the past and need to continue to use.

Word can't open image files - you need to insert them into a new document.

Have you considered using something other than Word? Greetings cards are better handled by desktop publishing apps... like Publisher.

thanks Tanglefoot but Word is what is used as it is only the image that is printed off and this in turn gets mounted onto other layers and then onto a pre cut card so no real need for publisher in this instance.

I prefer to right-click the image in Explorer and select Print. :)

:rotfl:lol. Not quite as simple as I made out maybe as some images I will layer with others, some have text added, rotated etc etc. These are proper payed for downloaded images not Google image type stuff :)

Thanks for your help though. I'm well away now. :T
