Pongy Dress From Seller!

I bought a dress on ebay I knew would fit great. I've got the same one in a different design I bought a while ago. This item for sale was apparently "worn once".
The dress looked fine, though it smelt a bit musty, damp, as if it had been in an attic for ages.
No problem, I thought, and bunged it in the washing machine. (Stupidly I left Positive Feedback thinking this was a minor hiccup).
Three long washes in my machine and two rigorous squirts with Anti-Bacterial Febreze and it *still* pongs.
What should I do?
Ok, I'm only a fiver down but it is still annoying!! One to put down to experience, perhaps?

Hahaha! I'm not that evil!!
Someone on the ebay forums has suggested a good ol' soak in white vinegar, so I'll give that a go before I file it in the bin
I'm quite new to ebay..reading that people send out food, tobacco, BO stained clothes (elsewhere on the forums here) sounds appalling. I think I'll avoid "used" clothes in future!0 -
Have you been tumble drying it? I find that using the dryer tends to intensify any lingering odours. After you've used the vinegar, drying outdoors might help too. Other than that, I don't have any bright ideas: antibacterial Febreze is what I normally use.0

No, haven't tumble dried it..I know what you mean, if I did that it'd make the odour "cling" to the garment.
I'll buy some vinegar and soak it tomorrow before it gets ditched

Its still worth contacting the seller if they are genuine they might offer a refund.0

Hi Loulou, Yuk!
It may only be a fiver, but I do feel for you.
How about bicarbonate of soda? It's great for removing smells - for eg, from Tupperware style containers used for leftover food, that smell of curry or chilli etc, even after being well washed. They sell it in supermarkets, in the baking aisle, for about 50p. You could try dissolving a third of a tub of it in a hand basin of warm water, soak the dress in the solution for an hour or two then wash as usual and hang outside to dry. Best of luck.0
