PPI claim

My mother has just phoned me and informed me that she received just over £8000 back from a PPI claim.
I was thrilled, until she told me she used a company she noticed advertising on TV and that she paid them £2000 + £700 VAT for their help after she received her cheque from Barclays!
She's thrilled because she wasn't expecting anything, but I haven't informed her that she could have saved £2700 by sending off the forms herself!
Not so much a question, more a rant!
