    The difference is that this is a leasehold whereas if it's a freehold you still own the land. Hence why I asked what the lease says? It may be that the freeholder i.e. LBI is obliged to reinstate or compensate if they don't.

    Then surely it would be more appropriate to have a reinstatement clause in the lease, to ensure that the council are duty bound to rebuild.
    Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.

    I don't know what TimmyT and any others - Jeffrey Shaw(?) - think but I'm inclined to think this solicitor is being over fussy.

    That's what I said. How does the lease handle that situation?

    Does anyone with any knowledge of the workings of councils have any idea how long they may take to have a look at this request to amend the lease? The wait is killing me!
