a query has arisen on your claim

Hi,
I had a letter through today telling me I have to attend an interview as a query has arisen on my claim.
The letter is dated the 9th but yesterday (10th) I called the jobcentre to tell them I am about to start work and need to sign off. As I'm not starting work until a week on Monday, they told me to come in on Monday and I could sign off and still receive the benefit for the previous 2 weeks as you apparently can only sign off with 1 week notice.
The interview is dated for the Tuesday and as I'll have already signed off, will I still need to attend the interview?
I've tried ringing them but I get no answer.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, I would imagine you do. Is it an interview under caution? Or just a normal interview? It should state on the letter.“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0

It doesn't say anything about 'under caution' but it is with a compliance officer.
I have a good idea what it is for. I was supposed to attend a meeting on the 8th but didn't as i was unwell. I had sent in the sick form but apparently you have to put in an end date for your sickness at the beginning of your sickness. This seems ludicrous to me as i didn't know whether its a 48 hour bug or longer. If a doctor doesn't know...
Anyway, as i say, that was the 8th and the letter was dated the 9th, i apparently should have attended the meeting even though i was ill due to me not putting an end date on the form.
To be honest, the whole dealing with that department has been a nightmare and the less time spent in that awful place the better.
i may try and catch them on the phone again.0 -
when i say compliance officer, it says customer compliance under his name. i suppose its the same thing0

What was the original interview for?
You need to either make sure what it's for, and that it's OK not to attend, as you've found work, or if you still do.
Consequences of not attending - depending on what it's for - may mean that you get a sanction, which could reduce your benefit or eliminate it - next time you need to claim, all the way up to them starting proceedings against you for benefit fraud, if the issue is something else, and they think you've been claiming fraudulently.0 -
yeah, good point. I'll check with them anyway.
cheers0
