TTC 1st baby after coming off Cilest!!!

Hi all,

I took my last Cilest pill on 7th April, after being on it for 9 years, and had my withdrawal bleed 11th-16th April. Since then we have been DTD as we normally would whether I was on the pill or not.
I also started taking folic acid tablets on 17th April.
I got a Menstrual Calendar app for my phone and when I put in all the dates it showed that on my, supposed, fertile dates we had in fact DTD but also that AF should of arrived on 9th May and it hasn't.
I know I was on the pill for a long time so I'm just worried/unsure about how long it will take me to get back into a 'normal' cycle.
I had a few period type pains last week but nothing like usual when I was on the pill.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? I know everyone is different but just after a bit of support/comfort I guess.

I'm trying not to get too carried away but obviously that's a bit difficult icon_sad.gif

Have you taken a pregnancy test?

You might want to try posting this on the TTC thread. Loads of great advice on there.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I'd take a test if I were you!

Some women's cycles return to 'normal' straight away and for others it takes months -there doesn't really seem to be any rhyme or reason to who goes which way.
Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!
  • Don't forget that the app will probably assume you have a 28 day cycle and ovulate on day 14. While this is entirely possible it's by no means guaranteed. You can predict ovulation as your cervical fluid changes to look like egg white at the peak of your fertility, then dries up very quickly afterwards. If you take your temperature every morning you'll notice that it's elevated after ovulation has occurred. Lots more info on this site.

    Good luck!

towards the end of the year I came off the pill (microgynon) after being on it for 15 years - normally (before and when I was on the pill) my periods are like clockwork and I was just over a week late on my first normal bleed. Id convinced myself I was pregnant and bought god knows how many tests but all were negative - I was just a little late!

get yourself a couple of tests from the poundshop (they are just as good as expensive ones) and test every other morning until you either get a positive or AF arrives!

oh and as you are trying to conceive, get yourself onto amazon for a pack of OPK's then test around when your app thinks you are ovulating - its less that £5 for 30.
while Im not TTC yet I bought some OPK's to make sure everything was working properly after being on the pill for so long!!

I was on microgynon for 10 years. Came off it on 1st jan 2011 and had my usual withdrawal bleed, was pregnant by the time my next period was due. Unfortunately I suffered an early miscarriage but was pregnant again within 2 weeks of the miscarriage (according to my dates) and now have a beautiful 5 month old! So I was extremEly fertile after coming off the pill even though I'd been on it for so long. I know everyone is different, but I came off it with the expectation of getting pregnant within a year as I was convinced it would take a while to come out my system, this was obviously not the case!
