Hi everyone
Me and my partner are looking at some cheap hotels in newcastle city centre to go in a weeks time. Flexible. Compared some good deals here and various other sites such as late rooms, expedia, compare4us.com and so on.
Just so many mixed reviews and can't be bothered going through them as don't get much time.
If you could recommend some cheap hotels that are still a good standard in Newcastle City Centre it would be helpful.
Thanks
Lisa

Depends what you call 'cheap'
Premier Inn on the Quayside (i highly recommened it) 10 minutes walk to the city centre and plenty of bars and entertainment on the Quayside too.
Also a Premier Inn in the city centre.
Jurys Innmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
travelodge newcastle central at £45,
travelodge whitemare pool....3.5 miles away at £32
ebay has copthorne 4* spa with complimentary drink voucher...at £56 with 21hrs bid time.0 -
I stayed at the Sandman which is very central and overlooks St James Park .....it was £89 per room and was VERY nice! Is this too much?Women marry men hoping they will change, men marry women hoping they won't! Inevitably they will both be disappointed.Albert Einstein:smileyhea0

I would also consider avoiding the weekends if possible as Newcastle is renowned for stag and hen party's.
Even the better hotels can have 'issues' with drunken behaviour at all hours of the morning. Have a look at tripadvisor and there is a theme in all of the reviews that do mention problems with parties.
Of course if you are going there to party yourself - then that may not be such an issue.
You will have a great time regardless.0 -
I second Premier Inn on the quayside, great to get to everything and there is plenty on the quayside if you wanted to stay down there.0

The Guardian ran a pretty positive reveiew of the New Sleeperz hotel that's just opened in Newcastle - it's near the train station. Here's the review if you want to take a look:

The other hotel in the chain is in Cardiff and it's certainly budget but perfectly okay and again very convenient for the train station.0
