Chaucer Insurance

I want to be fair and start by saying that Chaucer have given me cover which has served its purpose. I pay a high premium because I have six points, drive an older car and have no NCD.
I was quoted £713.00 for TPFT in August of last year. I had worked for a courier company and thought that my years with them would count towards a discount, and Chaucers led me to believe that this would be so. What I did not realise was that my former employers were self insured, so I could not prove a claim free period.
Chaucers then threatened to cancel my insurance unless I contacted them. I did so and was asked to pay an immediate £160.39 and put my monthly premiums up to £181.00.This was in an e-mail from the company. This I agreed to do. However, I have noticed that my monthly premiums have been £190.00. I am querying this £10.00per month difference and they are saying that they are correct and I am wrong. I am expecting them to abide by their e-mail statemt that I must pay £180.00 per month. Am I being unreasonable?

The monthly difference is £9 (£190 - £181). Have you paid the £160.39?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

As you have the email from them, unless they have an explanation for the extra charge you seem in a strong position to get it corrected.
Alternatively you could use the dd guarantee to get this corrected. Your bank will refund you the difference and take up the unauthorised dd with Chaucer.0
